All public locations such as shop premises, offices, retail centres, shopping malls, etc, at all times need to be free from any slipping or tripping hazards. There is a responsibility on the owner and managers to ensure that appropriate cleaning and monitoring processes are in place to check and clean any spillage and hazards.
A wet floor due to spillage or unfinished cleaning must be properly signed and erected to alert members of the public to the hazard. The failure to ensure that aisles are safe and there is no undue obstacle, particularly hidden dangers, is again the responsibility of the owner and managers.
